Grab your warm clothes and join me this January to experience the beautiful winter conditions of the Pacific Northwest as part of a small group setting. We'll spend our time trekking through ice and snow to shoot waterfalls, forests and mountains throughout Oregon and Southern Washington. Weather will likely have a big impact on this workshop so we'll plan to keep the schedule flexible and work around the best conditions. Participants should expect the workshop to begin with a required classroom session near Portland at 5pm on Friday the 11th, and to end with a sunset shoot (5pm) on Sunday the 13th.

Given that this is a winter workshop, we'll do a fair amount of hiking and snowshoeing in snowy and icy conditions. It can be an incredible experience that can produce beautiful photos but also requires increased mental focus and an adventurous attitude. If you've never taken photos in such conditions or are looking for a more casual experience, I would encourage you to consider a spring or summer workshop. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions regarding your physical ability and whether this workshop is a good fit for you.

Participants will receive personalized instruction as part of a casual small group setting that emphasizes the following techniques: shooting to process (focus stacking and exposure blending), composition with a focus on compelling foregrounds, optimal settings with relation to the exposure triangle and the subjects we shoot, and use of filters and other recommended equipment. Participants will also receive a comprehensive start-to-finish processing tutorial/video covering Lightroom and Photoshop techniques.
